Bearded Tit

There has been an unusual visitor to Western Turville reservoir over the past 4 weeks or so, a lone colourful male bearded tit.  Trying to spot such a small bird in a large reservoir is never easy and the results below took several visits.  Eventually … Continue reading

An Osprey Fishing (again!)

Here is another sequence of shots of an osprey fishing at Western Turville reservoir in Buckinghamshire.  On this occasion the osprey only caught the one fish.

Osprey in Flight

Here are a few shots of a juvenile osprey in flight over Western Turville reservoir in Buckinghamshire.  The shots were taken as it calmly glided around looking for the best spot to fish before taking a plunge.

Osprey Vs Fish?

Clearly in this case the fish lost out, but only after several attempts.  The last place I thought I would ever witness an osprey in action would be at a reservoir near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.  I hoped when I last visited Scotland to enjoy a similar experience, but with no success.  However, this juvenile osprey appeared approx. 2 weeks ago and has been entertaining the masses with its fearless, fast plunges into the water in an attempt to catch some lunch.  I would of course have liked the shots to be sharper, but the ambient lighting was relatively poor.
