White Mallard

Mallard ducks are probably the most common ducks in the UK, however, a white mallard is slightly more unusual.  I stopped for this mallard as the sunlight partially illuminated its white feathers and whilst preening, it emphasised the unique textures and shape of its feathers.

Blue Tits Providing

Relentless, just relentless, is the only way to describe expectant blue tits.  The blue tits in my garden are currently providing for their chicks in my bird box.  For approximately 16 hours a day they work together non-stop in their efforts to collect small green caterpillars to feed their chicks.

Posing Siskin

This charming little siskin happily posed for me whilst at Loch Morlich, Aviemore.  This is indeed a rarity for me as when attempting wildlife photography the subject is normally well gone before I release the shutter, a very frustrating hobby indeed.  In this case, perhaps it was frozen to the spot.

Courting Great Crested Grebes

A few shots of a couple of great crested grebes carrying out their elaborate courtship dance.  It would have been ideal if the weather had been better and the grebes closer to shore however, this was the first time I had observed this behaviour.
