Blue Tit Home Delivery

A fast enough shutter speed (1/2000 sec) allows you to freeze motion and in this case, see the wonderful shape of the wings and body shape of a blue tit just prior to entering a hole just over an inch in dimeter at very fast speeds.  The blue tits are busily feeding their chicks with small caterpillars on an almost incessant basis so the opportunity was not to be missed.  These in-flight shots were taken with a long lens well away from the nest box using a wireless remote to release the shutter.

Blue Tits Providing

Relentless, just relentless, is the only way to describe expectant blue tits.  The blue tits in my garden are currently providing for their chicks in my bird box.  For approximately 16 hours a day they work together non-stop in their efforts to collect small green caterpillars to feed their chicks.

Blue Tits Preparing

A few shots of blue tits preparing the nest box in my garden.  The nest box has been quiet the past couple of years so hopefully this year may prove different.

Blue Tits Feeding their Chicks

Here are further shots of blue tits still working tirelessly to provide for their chicks.  The chicks are probably only a couple of days from fledging.  Again, all shots taken with a wireless remote shutter release so not to disturb!

Blue Tits Providing

Here are a few shots of blue tits busily going back and forward in order to feed their clearly demanding chicks.  Although unsure as to how many chicks are in the nest, a single chick can eat up to 100 caterpillars a day, now that’s hard work for you.  All shots taken with a wireless remote shutter release so not to disturb!

ACTIVITY?

Maybe, the patter of tiny little blue tit feet to come?
