Here are a few shots taken at Stackpole which is a vast National Trust estate located in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The estate consists of approximately 5 square miles of farmland, lakes, woodland and coastline and is well worth a visit .

Here are a few shots of the wildlife I encountered during a two hour boat trip around Ramsey Island, located 1 km off the coast of St David’s Peninsula in Pembrokeshire, Wales. A RSPB nature reserve, it is home to ravens, peregrines, choughs and buzzards. During spring guillemots, razorbills, fulmars, kittiwakes and shags come to nest, however by the time I visited the island the cliffs were empty, leading to somewhat limited photographic opportunities .

Here are a few shots of St David’s Cathedral located in the county of Pembrokeshire, Wales. Named after the Patron Saint of Wales it is one of Britain’s oldest cathedrals and is considered one of the holiest places in Wales. Today it remains an active and thriving cathedral. Interestingly, the cathedral itself lies within the city of St David’s, the smallest city in Britain with a population of just 1,600.

As the title says, the following shots are indeed chains. I did consider converting to black and white, however I found the chains’ rusty condition and colours quite striking!

Here are a few shots of Carew Castle which is in the Welsh county of Pembrokeshire. With a history spanning 2000 years it is not surprising that very little remains of the inner ward of the castle – however, being situated in a stunning location next to a 23 acre millpond certainly makes it worth a visit.

We recently spent a week in Tenby, Wales, a part of the country that I have never previously visited. As the weather was particularly good it seemed like a wise idea to take a boat trip to Caldey Island. One of Britain’s Holy Islands, it is inhabited by Cisterian Monks who have been resident since 1926. The monks who farm the island are self sufficient and produce and sell an array of items including chocolate, perfumes and toiletries. Transferring between boat and island by amphibious landing craft was a mode of disembarkation I have never experienced before!
