Red Deer – Richmond Park

I recently visited Richmond Park for the annual deer rut as I have done for the past few years.  Unfortunately I did not witness any rutting and had to make do with lots of bellowing and a few chases, which was a bonus.  I do enjoy the way in which the deer blend in with the long grass, it certainly makes way for some impressive pictures.

Richmond Park – Annual Deer Rut

It would appear that I turned up a little late or the stags were having an off day as there was very little rutting going on, although there was still much roaring.  The following pictures were amongst my favourites from the day particularly the three hinds laying low in the long grass.  They look so relaxed and at peace.  In fact I would probably go as far to say that the shot is one of the best I have ever taken.   It just appeals to me, what do you think?
