One of my local red kites happily posing for me in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Generally, you need a bit of luck on your side as in my experience once they spot you they’re off.

Very handsome bird, love that long tail! We have four kites in the U.S., but none look similar to your Red Kite.
