Wendover Woods is situated on the Northern edge of the Chiltern Hills near Aylesbury in the county of Buckinghamshire. Forever busy, the woods are a great place for a walk on a Sunday should you wish to build up an appetite for your Sunday roast. There are also other activities to undertake should you wish such as mountain biking, fitness trails, an adventure playground and if the roast dinner is not your poison then there are plentiful BBQ areas. I chose to empty my legs by walking off the beaten track, albeit the
marked ‘Firecrest’ trail, to search for mushrooms. Happily, a few obliged to
show themselves in the more shadowy and damp patches of woodland, and, I must
add, after a lot of careful peering and neck bending. Bodily contusions then
ensued to get down and dirty with the fungi!
