Venetian Gondolas

Here is my final post of images from my memorable trip to Venice.  Although not the most inexpensive form of travel (€120 for 45 minutes), a trip on a gondola is a must-do experience whilst there.

The more unusual side of Venice

Here are a few shots of Venice which I could not include in any of my previous posts. The subject of the shots are, shall we say, atypical and somewhat abstract.

Great tits from fledging to fledglings – Part 2

Following on from part 1, here are a number of shots of two great tit fledglings.  Unfortunately, from what I observed, one of the fledglings flew straight into a garden bush from where he seemed reluctant to move, so it was not unexpected that he was found dead the following morning.  The other fledgling (pictured on the ground) appeared not too keen to fly and I do not know what came of him.  The remaining great tits fledged two day later and went straight to the trees.

Great tits from fledging to fledglings – Part 1

The fledgling part will follow on from this post, so for the time being let’s concentrate on the fledging.  Here are a few shots of great tit chicks in a bird box in my garden minutes before it’s time to leave and explore the big bad world.  The process of the adults tempting the chicks out to the initial fight for survival is surprisingly dramatic.

White Greylag Goose

Here are a few shots of what I believe is a white greylag goose both in flight and on the ground.

Venice – Architecture

Here are a few shots of the stunning architecture you will encounter around every corner in Venice.  Known as Venetian Gothic, it is typically a combination of the Byzantine style of that era, influences of Moorish Spain, and of course early forms of Gothic architecture from around Italy.

London – Only a Brief Visit

Here are a few shots of our capital city starting off at Trafalgar Square and ending up at St James Park and Wellington Barracks.  Only a couple of hours was possible as family and the pub were the main reasons for the visit.

Abstracts

Abstracts are not the norm for me but as the weather was very poor it was time to experiment indoors.
