A must-do at the Heroes at Highclere event was a visit to the speakers tent where Kate Adie the renowned British broadcaster, author and perhaps most famously the BBC’s veteran war reporter was speaking. Kate spent about 45 minutes mesmerising the audience about the role of women during World War One. Although I would have loved to have heard some stories from her time on the war front, her talk provided a fascinating insight into the women’s role during the war which perhaps is sometimes not recognised.
