I eventually managed to visit the Kelpies during the Christmas break after seeing them featured numerous times on television. For those of you not in the know, the Kelpies at 30m high are the tallest equine sculptures in the world and are located in Helix Park, Falkirk, Scotland. They are a monument to Scotland’s horse-powered industrial heritage and the name ‘Kelpie’ derives from an aquatic spirit of Scottish legend thought to haunt rivers and streams, unsurprisingly in the shape of a horse. Construction of the Kelpies was completed in November 2013 and they are truly worth seeing if you get the opportunity. More at – www.thehelix.co.uk/
