The Puffins of Lunga 1

We enjoyed a boat trip with Staffa tours from Tobermory to the isles of Lunga and Staffa on yet another unusually very warm day.  It was lovely to see a pod of dolphins and seals on the way but the highlight for most was getting up close with the puffins.  As you can see that’s exactly what we did; these magical little birds are smaller than you would expect but nonetheless incredibly colourful with bags of character.  Most other birds panic at the sight of humans but the puffins are very welcoming – apparently this is due to the fact that whilst we are around, other larger birds are deterred who might bully them and try to steal their food.  A remarkable experience was had by all.
