Woburn Abbey is located near Woburn village, Bedfordshire.  The Abbey has been the home to the Dukes of Bedford for nearly 400 years and is set in 3,000 acres of stunning grounds.   Should you have a spare weekend at hand then a visit is most certainly worthwhile and not too expensive at only £13.50 (adult admission), which allows you entrance in to the grounds, deer park and of course Woburn Abbey house itself.  The house, which is steeped in history and manned by knowledgeable and helpful staff is packed with impressive paintings, priceless antiques and artefacts.  The gardens which also boast a sculpture exhibition are imposing, and as my visit was during early April, will be much more colourful later this spring.  The deer park which holds thousands of deer (9 species) is impressive, however they can be difficult to photograph as you are asked to keep to official paths and routes; time, stamina (lots of walking) and patience are key.  Although this  was my first visit and a relatively short one with drizzle and grey skies, should we be lucky enough to get a summer this year another visit will definitely be on the cards.
