Thousands of carmine bee eaters migrate to South Luangwa during August to breed on the steep sandy banks of the Luangwa river. Bee eater nests are known to reach up to 1m deep within the sand banks with a small chamber at the rear for a single egg. Despite visiting in November, there were still adequate numbers of these beautiful birds to photograph. South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. Day 1 – 13 Nov 23.
