This is the first in a series of posts following a day in a hide photographing the stunning kingfisher in Worcestershire. Ably assisted by professional photographer Tom Way (www.tomwayphotography.co.uk), we spent a full day in the hide and were rewarded with around 8 visits. The following shots of a female kingfisher were taken in low light and in heavy rain at around 1213hrs.

Thank You Joanne, having only seen the flash of a Kingfisher as it flies past at great speed, it was good to spend a full day getting up close and personal 🙂

We have kingfishers here but they look a bit different. Fun birds and wonderful shots!

Thanks Laura, probably the most sought after and striking bird here in the UK.

Neat! We have one that comes to the little pond off our back deck. He sits in a tree and dive bombs the water. They are so fun to watch. Thanks for the fun factoid 🙂

Would love to have a Kingfisher drop in here regularly although I would probably never be able to put my camera down.

Wonder why my like did not show initially. I love these, have not been able to capture nice enough pics yet, we have a giant and pied kingfishers hanging out on the rocks by the ocean. Stunning shots.
